16 potential bidders show interest in Deonar WtE project

After the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation reduced the amount of waste that would be processed in the planned WtE plant at the Deonar dumping ground from 3,000 tpd to 600 tpd, 16 bidders have shown interest in the project and attended the pre-bid meeting. According to Hindustan Times, the civic body is confident that companies will bid and that the construction is likely to begin this year. Furthermore, EUR 71 million were sanctioned for 2 additional proposed WtE plants at the dumping ground, which should be constructed once the recent project is successful. However, the technology to be used has not yet been specified. The plants are planned to be implemented on a design-build-operate-maintenance basis.
