20 new composting plants planned in Madhya Pradesh

The urban bodies in the federal state of Madhya Pradesh have been divided into 26 clusters for solid waste management. Amongst others, plans have been proposed for setting up 20 composting plants across the state. According to The Daily Pioneer, around 7,212 tonnes of solid waste is produced everyday, in Madhya Pradesh’s 383 municipal bodies. While about 1,271 tonnes of waste is used to produce compost daily, only 15 tonnes are being used for biogas production.
