A2Z Waste Management has served a notice to the Ludhiana civic body regarding termination of their contract. A2Z wants to exit the project and has given 45 days notice to the civic body. February 4 is their last day.

The company says that the MC was delaying their payments and they haven’t received their dues since June. Other sources told The Times of India that even MC officials wanted to terminate the contract as there were several complaints about waste collection and processing in the city.

In 2011, the A2Z group had taken on the Ludhiana waste management project. An agreement with the firm was signed for 25 years in order to handle primary and secondary waste collection.
