Ahmedabad civic body asks Airport to manage its own waste

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has stopped collecting waste generated at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport. The AMC has asked Adani Airports, which operates the airport’s domestic and international terminals, to set up its own waste processing plant.

Company representatives who met civic officials were reportedly told to set up a waste disposal plant as per the central government’s rules, reports Ahmedabad Mirror.

Meanwhile, Adani Airports has released a statement denying that it requested the Ahmedabad civic body to collect its waste. The company maintains that it has been managing its waste as per government guidelines since it began operations at SVPI Airport in November
