An all-party meeting is scheduled by the Kalamassery municipality in Kerala to address the waste management problem. During the meeting, participants will deliberate on a proposal to approach the district collector for permission to transport food waste to the Brahmapuram waste dumping yard until a comprehensive waste treatment system is fully implemented.

Currently, no food waste is collected from households within the local body’s jurisdiction. Only plastic waste is gathered and handed over to a private agency. If the present situation persists, the accumulation of waste on the streets will worsen. To address this issue, the local body has distributed forms to residents who wish to install bio-bins. Those interested must complete the form and submit it to the local body, according to Vice-Chairperson Salma Aboobacker.

Despite conducting numerous meetings to tackle the waste problem, a final decision has yet to be made, reports The Times of India.
