Auction to procure 50 MW of biomass capacity to be held in Maharashtra

Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has approved a reverse auction for the procurement of 50 MW of biomass capacity held by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), Mercom India reports. Successful bidders will be awarded a power purchase agreement with a contract period of 20 years. The ceiling price is INR 5 per kWh and the power cost will be calculated as 50% of fixed cost and 50% of variable cost. Fossil fuel consumption is limited to a maximum of 15% of the monthly total fuel consumption.
