Averda wins new contract in Amritsar

A year into its existing contract with Amritsar Municipal Corporation, Averda has announced another contract with the city for waste management, recycling and treatment in the majority of Amritsar.

The waste management company has been awarded a new contract for the ancient Walled City centre which houses the Golden Temple and an additional 30,000 households.

Averda plans to deploy 41 mini tippers, along with 54 rickshaw trolleys, to collect household municipal waste and ferry them to composting and treatment sites.

Averda claims that followings its public outreach and education programme during the last one year, around a third of waste in the city is now being segregated before disposal, with ambitions to increase this to 50% within the next year.
