The waste-to-energy plant (WTE) at Bandhwari will be operational in two years, chief minister Mr Manohar Lal Khattar has announced.

Mr Khattar laid the foundation stone of the plant on December 10. With 15MW capacity, it will be able to process 1,100 tonnes of waste every day. The plant is expected to be ready by December 2022, according to The Times of India.

Noting the challenges faced by the concessionaire Ecogreen, Mr Khattar said the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has finally been able to clear six to seven acres of land to set up the plant. The company is yet to receive approval for enhancing the capacity of the WTE plant to 25MW.
