BBMP deploys new fleet of Dry Waste Collection Vehicles

Dry Waste Collection Vehicle deployed by BBMP

The Bengaluru civic body has deployed a new fleet of dry waste collection vehicles.

Gas Authority Of India Limited (GAIL) gave away 18 CNG collection vehicles to the BBMP for the ease of collecting dry waste. These can run either on CNG or petrol and incurred a total cost of around Rs 1 crore. GAIL has set up four CNG distribution centres.

This will be a game changer for BBMP as the corporation didn’t have dry waste collection vehicles before. Every ward needs two to six vehicles for dry waste collection. Earlier, BBMP had to hire vehicles for the job, which cost Rs 56,316 each.

Dry waste is accumulated from homes two time a week and these vehicles will be useful to over 7500 workers engaged in dry waste collection in Bengaluru.
