The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has directed marshals to submit a report on the performance of solid waste collection service providers in the wards where work orders have been issued recently.
The BBMP has issued work orders for door-to-door collection of garbage in 38 wards but it is alleged that garbage collection is not being done as per norms in around 30 wards. It is also alleged that solid waste collection service providers are not deploying the required number of auto tippers at each ward, according to the Bengaluru Mirror.
Every ward is divided into blocks of 750 to 1000 households and commercial establishments. The number of blocks varies from 15 to 55, depending on the size of the ward. Each block must have one auto tipper.
The BBMP solid waste management department is expected to take stock of the situation based on the report to be submitted by the marshals.
