BBMP planning 100 transfer stations across city

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) Solid Waste Management Department and The Ugly Indian, a group of anonymous volunteers who work to keep the city clean, are collaborating to identify locations to set up garbage transfer stations. These will off-road and out-of-sight.

“If the pilot project becomes viable, we will replicate this in around 100 wards across the city,’’ BBMP Special Commissioner (Solid Waste Management) D Randeep informed Bangalore Mirror.

The Special Commissioner said volunteers of The Ugly Indian have already identified a few locations for garbage transfer stations. “We select 20×15 ft spots located off the road for garbage transfer stations. The space will be barricaded with metal sheets and the metal sheets will be painted in pleasing colours,” said Randeep.
