The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has come up with a fresh proposal to set up large bio-methanation plants for treating organic solid waste at two different locations in the City. This time, the civic body intends to set up decentralised plants of 50-tonne capacity by inviting private parties to operate them for a period of 15 years.

This plan finds mention in the Action Plan prepared by the BBMP for the management of municipal solid waste for the current year as per the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016. The civic body plans to invite tenders by November-end and 100 tonnes per day (TPD) of wet waste is expected to be processed by December 2021, reports Bangalore Mirror.
