Bhopal’s civic body claims that plastic waste has decreased by over 30% roughly, a year and a half after a single-use plastic (SUP) ban was implemented. Bhopal Municipal Commissioner (BMC) Mr MP Singh told The Times of India that enforcement through penalties, alternative packaging methods, and other policy measures have helped in controlling SUP use.

The MPPCB has asked teams to assess the market condition as part of the reality check. BMC has established Material Recovery Facilities in several locations throughout the city. The Centers also give a nominal amount at certain collection spots to incentivize people.
