The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will begin biomining waste at the Bhuasuni dump yard from next month.

Two firms, Jagruti and Jan Adhar Sevabhavi Sanstha, will carry out bio-mining at the dumpyard in the form of a joint venture. The BMC is reportedly investing Rs 103 crore in the project, which will likely take three years to complete. The revenue generated from it will be shared by agencies, reports The New Indian Express.

The Orissa government has faced criticism from the National Green Tribunal (NGT) for its laxity to ensure proper implementation of Solid Waste Management Rules 2016.
