Biogas plants to be built in Haryana

The Manohar Lal Khattar Government, Haryana, plans to set up bio-CNG and biogas units at all gaushalas (cow shelters) in the state of Haryana, according to the Daily Pioneer. Under a so-called Gobardhan scheme, biogas plants are planned to be set up in one village in each of the 22 state districts. A first bio-CNG plant at a gaushala in Gurugram is due to be inaugurated soon. As further reported, the state government also wants to build gaushalas in six more district prisons. As of today, there are 430 gaushalas and nandishalas (shelters for bulls) located in Haryana, housing about 341,000 of cattle.
