CIPET to expand plastic waste management centres

The Central Institute of Petrochemical Engineering and Technology (Cipet), a leading institute specializing in plastic technology, plans to establish five circular economy or plastic waste management centers as pilot projects in five cities.

Four of these centers will be located in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Karnataka, with the fifth center’s location yet to be determined. More emphasis us being placed on the research and development of biopolymers and biodegradable polymers, as well as new packaging materials. According to The New Indian Express, if such centers are successful, they will be integrated into other Cipet institutes across India.
