City of Pune tenders a number of WtE projects

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has recently invited an expression of interest for technologies to process and dispose of mixed solid waste, as reported by Waste Management World. The proposal aims at establishing 15 small processing plants with capacities of 100 to 250 tons per day and 5 large-scale facilities with capacities of 500 tons per day. The plants will be built on PMC-owned land spread across the entire municipality. The incineration of mixed waste faces opposition by the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives referring to two malfunctioning facilities in the area.
