Co-firing of biomass at Dadri coal plant started

NTPC Limited has started co-firing biomass at its 2,650 MW coal-fired Dadri power plant in Greater Noida, as the Times of India reported. In one unit of the plant, the company co-fires a share of 10% with pellets made from paddy straw and other agricultural residues. The process is seen as a step to redress the seasonal burning of agricultural residues on the fields often led to significantly increased air pollution in India.
