According to the Hindustan Times, the construction works for the Bandhwari RDF facility will begin on 15 February 2018. Even though it had been reported that construction works were already in progress, it now seems like the foundation stone for the project will be laid by mid-February. The envisioned plant is expected to come online by June 2019. Bandwhari is already home to a WtE facility, which has been standing idle for several years. The new facility will handle municipal solid waste from the municipalities of Faridabad and Gurgaon, while producing and incinerating RDF. It will generate 10 MW of electricity and the costs for the project are estimated to amount to EUR 54.29 million. In addition to the new RDF facility, a leachate treatment plant is also being planned for Bandhwari.
