Construction of Tirupati WtE plant starts

The Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) has recently held a ground-breaking ceremony to commence the construction of a planned waste-to-energy (WtE) facility. This seems to be part of the planned 12 waste-to-energy projects in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, according to The Hindu. The ceremony was disrupted by neighbouring villages’ residents who opposed the location of the WtE plant. The 600tpd facility is planned to be situated at Gajulamandyam Industrial Park of Renigunta Mandal. The plant will have an installed capacity to generate 6 MW of energy from municipal solid waste.
