Daighar WtE project close to approval

As reported by The Times of India, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) will decide on a proposed 600 tpd WtE plant processing municipal waste to be located in Daighar, Maharashtra. The decision will be made at TMC’s next body meeting. The city of Thane does not have a dedicated dumping yard so it has already purchased waste filling sites to dispose of 600 tons of waste per day. However, this has raised concerns amongst citizens of the Diva-Daighar area, who fear possible health hazards. Once operational, the proposed facility should generate 8 to 12 MW of power on a daily basis.
