Debate about waste incineration in cement kilns

According to the source, the Foundation and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) said in a white paper that if the use of waste as fuel in cement kilns reached five per cent, India’s CO2 emissions may fall by about 1.5 million tons. The CII has also started a program to promote the use of alternative fuels in the cement industry. 62 million tons of hazardous waste are being generated in India each year. According to CII, a large share of this waste could be incinerated in cement kilns.
