East Delhi’s Ghazipur legacy waste is being cleared

East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) has employed 12 trommel machines to clear 2,400 tonnes of legacy waste at the Ghazipur landfill every day. East Delhi MP Gautam Gambhir personally visited the site and shared a video of the site (above). The landfill height has been reduced by more than 40 ft, claimed Mr Gambhir.

The EDMC also plans to install a modern plant at the site for better segregation. “Talks are on with manufacturers for technology that will work efficiently with legacy waste and process at least 1,500 tonne waste per day. Manufacturers are being invited to demonstrate their machines or operate them here on a pilot basis,” a civic body official had informed The Times of India last week.
