As reported by The Times of India, the private company Jyoti Envirotech has been replaced as waste management body for the city of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The Lucknow Municipal Corporation came to this decision after Jyoti had permanently been failing to collect municipal waste on schedule. There had been several issues with Jyoti such as strikes of workers, logistical issues and tariff settlements. Even after court intervention, Jyoti Envirotech failed to collect all the garbage from the region that it was obliged to transfer. The new firm responsible for the city’s waste management is Chinese company Eco Green, which has been given three months by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation to show better results than its predecessor. Furthermore, Eco Green might be able to complete construction of a local waste treatment plant with an intake capacity of 1,300 tpd, which Jyoti also failed to complete and operate.
