Feed-in tariff fixed for Kolhapur WtE project

The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has determined a feed-in tariff for the planned Kolhapur WtE plant. The project is being developed by Kolhapur Green Energy Private Limited (KGEPL), a special purpose vehicle formed by the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC). Under the tariff, the facility may sell its electricity for INR 7.44 (USD 0.11) per kWh. KGEPL has contracted Mumbai-based firm M/s Rochem Separation Systems Private Ltd to set up the plant, which is planned to treat 180 tpd of solid waste, generating 1.8 MWel. According to KGEPL, a mass combustion process will be used. This was reported by the Times of India.
