Fire incident at Chikkanagamangala RDF site

According to The Hindu, a fire incident occurred at the Chikkanagamangala waste treatment and RDF facility near Anekal, which is operated by public body Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). As said, the fire spread to a waste stock of over 600 tpd. Environmental activists suspect that wrong and too much RDF storage on the site could be the reason for the incident, while BBMP claims that the fire was caused by sabotage. As stated by another source, BBMP faces problems to find end-users for its RDF, as it has a comparatively low calorific value.
