In the backdrop of confirmed Covid-19 (coronavirus) cases in Pune, the Pune Municipal Corporation and city residents are at loggerheads regarding garbage disposal.

The Hindustan  Times reports that since the last 10 days, residents of Phursungi and Uruli Devachi are refusing to allow the disposal of garbage at designated landfills in the area. The residents claim that the PMC is not processing or segregating the garbage and dumping it there, leading to several health and environmental problems in the area.

The PMC, on the other hand, is repeatedly appealing to the residents to allow the landfilling to continue.
