The Ghaziabad municipal corporation will soon be initiating the concept of ‘zero waste wards’ which will include 10 residential wards on a pilot basis.

Officials of the corporation said that waste generated from the wards will be processed at a pre-identified location in the ward. The civic body hopes this will help reduce the generation of solid waste.

The number of waste vehicles will be increased by the Municipal Corporation, and include e-vehicles and CNG-based vehicles.

With help from NGOs, waste will be segregated daily. An app is also being developed to track the corporation’s door-to-door solid waste collection vehicles as they pass houses, commercial establishments and shops.
