After being on trial run for the past two months, the WtE plant at Ghazipur landfill site in Delhi shall be commissioned this month, as reported by The Hindustan Times. Once in operation the plant shall treat about 1,300 tonnes of municipal solid waste per day while generating 12 MW of electricity per hour. The facility, which is a joint venture between the Delhi government and IL&FS Environmental Infrastructure and Services Ltd, had been faced with a delay of almost 4 years after the company which was originally responsible for the construction work had quit halfway. Besides Timarpur-Okhla, the Ghazipur project is the only operational plant in Delhi so far with another WtE facility at Narela still waiting for commissioning.
