Government approves the establishment of WtE plant in Kannahalli

The Karnataka State Government has approved establishing a WtE plant in Kannahalli. A yet-to-be-appointed company is expected to finance and operate the plant while Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will supply the municipal waste input. According to The Deccan Herald, the plant is expected to have a capacity to process 500 tonnes of waste into 40 MW daily. The electricity generated will be sold to the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC).
