Gurugram’s new COVID-waste pick-up plan

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has drawn up a zone-wise schedule for the collection of bio-medical waste by its appointed agency, Biotic. Henceforth, the agency’s workers will collect waste from the patient’s homes on designated days, reports The Times of India.

As per the new system, a caregiver of the patient will be required to drop the waste to the collection vehicle. They will be handed a yellow bag to transfer their garbage. The RWA can also designate staff for this purpose.

Till now, SWM contractors were collecting and segregating garbage kept outside houses marked with quarantine stickers. Following complaints from residents about irregular waste collection, the MCG has made this announcement. A toll-free number has also been released to report grievances related to waste collection.
