Haryana launches new biogas scheme

The federal state of Haryana, according to the state’s chief minister Manohar Lal Khatter, has launched a new scheme for supporting the production of biogas from cattle dung. This was reported by The Times of India. The scheme named Gobar-Dhan (Galvanizing Organic Bio Agro Resources Dhan) also aims at assisting village councils (gram panchayats) in setting up gas plants in their villages. As stated in the source, there are currently around 450 so-called gaushalas and nandishalas (shelters for bovine animals) located in Haryana.
