Horse manure-fuelled AD plant planned for Matheran

The municipal council of Matheran, a hill station in Maharashtra, is planning a new AD plant processing horse manure. The technology for the new plant will be delivered by the Trombay-based Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, which has previously completed successful trials on converting horse manure to biogas. According to the source, the AD plant should have a capacity of 2,000 tpy and produce energy, which will be used to supply streetlights. The facility that will be set up near a local horse stable is expected to cost INR 10 million (EUR 13,000).
