IGNOU launches course on SWM

With waste generation expected to increase manifold in the coming years, trained professionals are required in the field to manage the waste generated from development projects of industries, mining, housing and urban areas. To address this need, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched an online Certificate Programme on Solid Waste Management.

The programme is being offered in Hindi through open and distance learning mode. The eligibility criteria for admission is the completion of Grade 12. The course content is aimed at sensitizing the learners about the problem of waste generation and its impact on the environment and human health. Also,
• To familiarize the learners to existing legislation, knowledge, and practices regarding Waste Management in the country.
• To prepare the learners with the ability to manage solid waste effectively.

The certificates offered by IGNOU are valid and recognized by AICTE and recognized by the University grants commission (UGC). Candidates who have obtained degree are also eligible to apply for government jobs. Applications for the course will be accepted till August 16.
