Jalandhar forms 3-member panel to streamline SWM

The Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar Municipal Corporation, Mr Jaspreet Singh, has established a three-member panel to implement solid waste management in accordance with the guidelines announced by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change. It would conduct site inspections and produce thorough reports regarding these matters every two weeks.

An initiative to examine solid waste management has already been started by the administration. During the course of the drive, seven challans have already been issued. The campaign will intensify in the coming days, and the deputy commissioner urged stakeholders to ensure the appropriate implementation of solid waste.

The committee will keep an eye on facilities that generated bulk waste and would visit them on a regular basis to inspect compliance with the text and spirit of the Solid Waste Management Rules 2016, reports The Tribune.
