Jawaharnagar incinerator plans dismissed

According to The Times of India, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has announced that plans for a 48 MW WtE plant in Jawaharnagar, Andhra Pradesh, were dismissed. In 2013, GHMC had said construction on the INR 7 billion incinerator would soon start with the help of Ramko Enviro Engineers under a PPP contract (see also issue 2013-10). However, the Pollution’s Control Board did not give its permission for the project, saying there would be chances of noise, water and soil pollution emanating from the plant.
