The Waste-to-Energy project currently under construction in Kasba Bawda is planned to begin operations by 15 May. According to The Times of India, the project is now in the last phase of completion. It has capacity to process about 200 tpd of waste into energy. However, in the first few months, the garbage will only be processed into RDF in a close-by side facility. Energy generation will commence after testing and resolving of other technical issues. The company will sell the generated energy on the open market, while it will receive a tipping fee of RS 308 (EUR 3.79) per ton of the garbage from the civic administration. The plant will be operated by the firm for the next 20 years.
