Kerala to have six more WtE plants

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that the government plans to construct centralized Waste to Energy (WtE) plants in six districts of the state.

The projects will be undertaken in Kollam, Thrissur, Kannur, Thiruvananthapuram, Malappuram and Palakkad district on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) model under Public Private Partnership with Zonta Infratech Pvt Ltd. On Monday, the Chief Minster inaugurated the Rs 250 crore WtE plant in Njeliyanparamba, which will generate 6MW of electricity and sold to the Kerala State Electricity Board. The Times of India reports that plant will have a capacity of 450 TPD and will be completed in two years.
