The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has fined EcoGreen Energy Pvt Ltd for breach of contract and failure to operate the Shivri solid waste treatment plant at full capacity. A Rs 2.2 crore fine has been imposed on EcoGreen.

Upon inspection, civic body officials found that all the machines were also not in working condition, according to the Hindustan Times. Company officials were reportedly warned of strict action, to no avail.

The LMC claims that processing and treatment of garbage was unsatisfactory over the last few years. About 340,000 tons of waste is also reportedly lying untreated, along with 200,000 tonnes of RDF. This is an environmental hazard, the LMC claims.
