Manali begins legacy waste treatment

The Manali Municipal Council has started treating mounds of legacy waste accumulated at the Rangari landfill. With tourism in slowdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the MC is concentrating on the disposal of dumped trash. The huge landfill located at the entry point of Manalai is being converted into a garden while the waste is being converted into refuse-derived fuel (RDF) for proper disposal.

With few tourists arriving in Manali this year, Manali has seen drastically reduced volume of garbage and hence the MC is focussing on legacy waste treatment and disposal, reports The Times of India.
