MNRE amends biomass support scheme

Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has amended its support scheme for industrial biomass CHP plants. One new clause states that capacity addition projects will not be eligible for the support scheme, according to Mercom India. Another new clause states that projects that were built before being part of the MNRE programme are not eligible for subsidies. As reported, project developers may receive central financial assistance (CFA) of INR 25 lakhs per MW for bagasse CHP plants and INR 50 lakhs/MW for non-bagasse plants under the support scheme. MNRE has also invited expression of interest (EOI) to asses the bagasse and non-bagasse CHP potential in India.
