India’s Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) was said to have classified plasma pyrolysis as an accepted incineration process for biomedical and municipal solid waste. As stated, India currently has 11 plasma pyrolysis units, all of which were said to have been installed by the Facilitation Centre for Industrial Plasma Technologies (FCIPT). FCIPT is a subsidiary of the Gandhinagar-based Institute for Plasma Research (IPR). This was reported by the Times of India.
