According to The Times of India, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and the Varanasi Municipal Corporation (Nagar Nigam) towards the establishment of a WtE plant. The plant will be financed with INR 300 crores by NTPC, while the Varanasi Municipal Corporation will provide land for the facility. Plant construction has been planned for 30 months. The plant capacity and technology to be used in the plant has not been included in the source.
