Nagpur is currently facing challenges in garbage collection as new contractors take charge

The tender for bio-mining of garbage at Bhandewadi dumping yard is all set to be scrapped.

The board of directors (BoD) of Smart City Project’s special purpose vehicle — Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited (NSSCDCL) is likely to decide the fate of the tender in its meeting on Friday. It could continue the project with fresh tender or go with earlier project for developing five garbage transfer stations, or take any other decision, reports The Times of India.

As part of city’s Smart City Project of Rs3,577.77 crore, the centre had approved smart solutions for Solid Waste Management (Rs148.77 crore). NSSCDCL BoD had decided to spend Rs40 crore on five garbage transfer stations, a decision that was later replaced with a tender for bio-mining of garbage at Bhandewadi dumping yard, sparking political drama in Nagpur circles.
