NDMC hires consultants to improve Swacch ranking

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has hired private consultants to improve its performance in 2022. In the 2021 Swachh Survekshan list, NDMC ranked 45 among the 48 local bodies. The next SS survey is due in January and February 2022.

The urban environment management company, ICUC Consultants, will help the civic body to carry out environment assessments, identify focus areas and help in training staff to help improve the performance under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), reports Hindustan Times.

Each coordinating team reportedly comprises of an IEC expert to help with activities to enable behavioural changes, a SWM expert, a service level progress monitor and a technical head. The immediate focus areas identified by the corporation include bulk waste generators, GPS in waste-lifting vehicles, plastic drives, waste reuse initiatives and weekly reporting of works carried out at ward level.
