Dehradun Municipal Corporation (DMC) is planning to develop a bio-CNG plant in the city by 2023. The plant should process segregated waste as well as horticulture waste, and produce biogas.

According to the report, an Expression of Interest (EoI) has already been sent to the Government, and both terms on budget and land allocation are currently being prepared.

As the source further reports, this project can only become successful if waste segregation is conducted as a first step, according to an official of the SDC Foundation. As the report further indicates, waste segregation takes place in just two (out of 100) city wards at present.
