New deadline for Shimla WtE project

The Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) has determined 1 June 2017 as the deadline for the start of operations of the WtE project at the Bhariyal landfill site. The plant is being set up by Elephant Energy Private Ltd. and both RDF and municipal waste will be incinerated at the plant. According to Shimla’s mayor, the operator has already started a trial run of the facility. Around 70 tpd of municipal waste is being delivered to the plant by the SMC at the moment. Elephant Energy’s investments for the facility have added up to around USD 6.478 million so far, and the company has already missed a deadline for the start of operations twice (31 December 2016 and 31 March 2017). This was reported by Tribune India.
