The project to set up an MSW treatment plant at the Dadumajra (or Dadu Majra) landfill is still in the RfP process, according to a recent report.

The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) published an RfP for a private company to carry out the project in June 2023. So far, no company has been hired and the submission deadline has been prolonged until December 2023.

According to the Mayor of Chandigarh, the MC undertook some changes in the project conditions and now expects to have hired a company by December 2023. According to earlier information, the plant should process 550 tpd of dry and wet waste. Wet waste is to be converted into biomethane and compressed natural gas, while dry waste is to be turned into RDF.

Once a contractor is found, the plant is to be set up within 2 years.
