The Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC) has, once again, floated a tender for setting up of the solid waste management plant at Bainguinim.

The project has been delayed repeatedly after no company qualified when the earlier tender was issued.

The latest tender has been floated with modified criteria, reports The Times of India.

The plant is estimated to cost Rs 200 crore and will help manage waste in the entire Tiswadi taluka. It will have facilities for recycling and sorting lines, segregation, bio-methanation and composting systems.

BAINGUINIM SWM PLANT TIMELINE

2008 – The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) acquires land at Bainguinim to set up the waste management plant.

Sept 2020 – The state government releases tender document. Receives three bids until February 2021 after repeated extensions for bid submission dates. However, none qualifies.
