Bihar’s state urban development and housing department intends to build a WtE plant in Patna, Bihar.

The facility to be erected at Ramachak Bairiya on Patna-Gaya road should host several separate units for compost, biomethanation, material recovery, RDF and sanitary landfill. As further stated, a Detailed Project Report (DPR) is currently being prepared by department.

The future plant should be processing solid, wet and hazardous wastes. The WtE plant is being planned under one cluster, which covers several urban local bodies (ULBs) of Patna as well as neighbouring areas. Moreover, plans provide to also handle recyclable wastes such as plastic, glass and metal.

As the source further reports, the ULBs’ task would be to separate the wet and dry waste fractions to ensure that only non-biodegradable combustible dry waste is delivered to the plant for recovery.
